Common questions

How do I set up a check?

Put your iPhone on a stable stand: at your side with your full body in frame for the Side Spine/Load Check, or low in front of the treadmill, tilted up so your hips, knees, and ankles are in frame, for the Front Alignment Check. Pick your check interval (1, 2, 3, or 5 minutes) and enter your treadmill incline. Each run starts with an automatic 30-second calibration — stand still for 10 seconds, then run at your normal training pace for 20 seconds while voice prompts lead you. The first check comes after one full interval.

What is the difference between the side and front checks?

The Side Spine/Load Check reads the sagittal plane: a Spine group (trunk fold, whole-body lean, head position) and a Knee Load group (cadence drop, overstriding, knee bend at landing, bounce) in the same run. The Front Alignment Check reads the frontal plane: knees caving in, crossover steps, arm swing, and pelvis level. They see different habits — rotating them week by week gives the full picture.

Why does it only check every few minutes?

RunAlign is built for whole sessions, not clips. Sampling about 10 seconds every 1–5 minutes maps out when your form starts to fold across a 30–60 minute run, without overheating your phone or draining the battery. It never records video and stores only compact joint and result numbers.

Why did it say "Well done" when I felt my form slip?

A single brief lapse doesn't trigger a problem cue — the same problem has to appear in two checks in a row before RunAlign calls it out, so one rough patch doesn't get announced as a pattern. You still hear one voice line after every check, and the lapse is recorded in that window of your report as drifting.

The app says "Couldn't read clearly" — what do I do?

That window couldn't be read, usually because of framing, lighting, or something blocking the view. Check that the phone is steady and upright, your full body (side check) or hips, knees, and ankles (front check) are in frame for the whole window, and the lens is clean. An unreadable window doesn't count as a completed check and never uses a free run.

Does RunAlign record video or audio?

Video, never: camera frames are read and discarded on your iPhone, and nothing visual is saved or uploaded. RunAlign doesn't use the microphone at all — the voice cues are speech generated by the app. See the privacy policy for details.

Can I listen to music while I run?

Yes. Your music keeps playing; it dips briefly only while a voice cue speaks, then returns to full volume. Music apps with background playback work best — some web players pause in the background because of their own limits.

How do the 4 free runs and RunAlign Pro work?

Your first 4 completed full runs are free, shared between side and front checks. A run counts when it finishes and is saved with at least one completed check; a run that ends before any check completes doesn't count, and deleting a saved run doesn't restore a free run. RunAlign Pro (monthly, yearly with a 7-day free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase) unlocks unlimited runs, all checks, trends, and trend export. If you have a creator offer code, redeem it from the "Redeem code" entry on the paywall or in Settings.

How do I delete a run?

In History, tap Edit or swipe a run to delete it, then confirm. Deleting removes the run and its window records from the app. It does not restore a free run, and it does not remove copies in your device backups or summaries you shared earlier.

Is RunAlign a medical device?

No. RunAlign is a posture and load awareness tool for treadmill runners. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any injury or condition, and its measurements have not been clinically validated. If you experience pain during or after running, stop and consult a qualified healthcare professional.
